We babysat again this week. On Monday I came out of the shower to find this waiting for me. The note says “Dessert at your service. Love your favorite 12 year old.” If she wasn’t my favorite 12 year old before this surprise she certainly was after.
The 10 year old thought Doug really needed some chocolate milk to go with his dinner so she got it all prepared for him before he came in to eat. I thought it was pretty cute.
The 15 year old and I were making dinner and the 10 year old decided she wanted to set the table. We watched her from the kitchen, she was so precise about every placement and napkin fold. She didn’t know we were watching and it was adorable. She went and found that pumpkin from somewhere for the center piece it made me laugh.
Hardcore game of volleyball happening right here.
We love Halloween and all the weird scary things that go with it. It’s such a peculiar holiday and even more peculiar is the fact that we pay money to “get scared”. Bizarre. Friday we went to dinner then to the House of Seven Gables with my parents. It was put on by the Playmill and was done a little different than most haunted houses I’ve been to. Each room we went in had actors acting out horror stories (e.g., Dracula, Sweeney Todd, Sherlock Holmes etc.) It was done really well and I liked their take on it. I also liked my hot scone.
Saturday night we had our friends, Brianna and Spencer, over for dinner then went to Dr. Slaughters (a different haunted house). We attempted a few other pictures but they didn’t turn out. Again, so weird that we pay to get freaked out. I’m totally on board with it, don’t get me wrong, just recognize that’s it’s pretty curious. It was all worth it though when we saw Spencer literally drop to the floor out of fright. I think I laughed more than screamed while going through. Why is it so funny to see people get startled?
Game night at our friends’ house.
