I got lazy last year and didn’t post for several months so this is a snapshot post of all our fall highlights from 2012.
September
Nana had her 97th birthday. She’s an inspiration to us all.
Our cats have grown up a lot since this picture, but they still love rubbish.
My friend Allison got married in September. I went to her bridal shower in Preston, Idaho. For those that don’t remember, Preston is the home of Napoleon Dynamite. I crack up every time I go to that town and drive down main street.
The next weekend Doug and I went to Logan for the wedding. We had some time to kill between the luncheon and reception and my friend suggested we drive through Logan canyon to see the autumn leaves. It was unbelievable; the colors were so vivid and breathtaking. We pulled off at one point and went on a little “hike”. We had our Canon camera with us but we’ve managed to misplace all the files so I had to dig these ones off of my old phone.
Brittney had her birthday and we got together for sushi.
October
On Halloween we woke up and Felix had grown fangs over night. I’m not making this up.
My boss gave us some Jazz tickets, but since it was Halloween we had a surprisingly hard time finding a couple to go with us, especially considering they were second row seats. Doug took his friend Steve and I took my friend Vanessa and it made for an awkward double date considering the two are both married, but not to each other.
We had dinner upstairs beforehand and everyone was pretty stoked on the seafood selection. I don’t eat seafood so I’m no judge but apparently there was a lot of meat on the crustaceans and it was all hand cut and ready for consumption.
Some girl in the row behind us spilled beer all down my back and hair and I got really mad. She ended up buying me a Jazz shirt to make up for it. Apology (and by “apology” I mean shirt) accepted.
November
This is actually kind of embarrassing, but whatever. My friend Sara and I have a tradition of going the midnight showing of all the Twilight movies together. It started years ago when we worked with each other at the dental office and made awesome fake fangs one time and it’s just gone from there. Since she moved to Utah, we don’t continue to go so much for the movies (because let’s be honest, they’re awful) but more just for an excuse to get together. I only get to see her this one night a year and now the stupid movie series is over so we’ll have to come up with a new tradition.
For my birthday last year we had a crepe party with family and another one with a few friends. Somehow we both managed to avoid all photographic documentation of the event, but I assure you- we did eat celebratory crepes.
My birthday present from Doug was tickets to see The Killers in Utah. I was so excited about this. It had been years since I’d been to a decent concert, something I used to frequently do. Plus I love The Killers.
The venue was worst ever. They were completely unorganized and had no idea how to handle a crowd. We ended up waiting outside for 45 minutes while it rained on us. Plus it was cold. I was really grumpy…until the concert started. I got soul but I’m not a soldier.
The concert was incredible. The next morning we got hobbit breakfasts at Dennys. Don’t ask.
December
I think technically these December photos would go under the “winter” category but I’m not about to make another post. So lets just pretend these all took place before December 21st because I think that means it’s still fall.
For a date night this month we went to “A Dickens Christmas” at The Mystique. It’s a dinner theatre in Chubbuck, ID. They serve a five course meal in this intimate chamber room while doing readings of Charles Dickens. Let’s just say it was really fun, but the quality was just about what you would expect from a dinner theatre in Chubbuck, ID.
And that brings us to my last picture. This was the Christmas card we sent out. I don’t think I need to say anything here, you can just bask in the insanity that was our Christmas Card.
To you and your’s.
