Just another cold week of Idaho’s January.
This picture is further evidence that we are slacking on creativity. You can see a little paw poking through the door on the bottom left. It cracks me up though because it reminds me of a memoir book I was reading while on our trip in New York. We were taking the night train from Philly to NYC and it was pretty dark and quiet and I’m quietly minding my own business engrossed in this book. Well, I hit this part of a story the author was relaying that killed me. I’ll spare the details but basically she was sick at her home alone and in the bathroom and she heard noises and saw that someone was passing a note underneath the bathroom door which is basically terrifying (especially considering her physical state after ingesting a serious amount of laxatives). This goes on for a bit and a few more things come under the door when she finally sees her cat’s paw and realizes the cat is pushing “random flotsam and jetsam under the door from her purse”. The writing style, the punch line, my physical setting and the late hour all created the perfect storm for me to have a serious laugh attack. I was trying so hard to be quiet (because I try to be a considerate member of society) and not disturb my fellow train passengers and this in turn made me laugh even harder because I was holding it back while choking and crying, nay, sobbing. I buried my head in my arms and laughed for a solid 2-3 minutes until I finally caught my breath. All the while Doug was just ignoring me until I finished so he could ask what was going on. Man, I love a good laugh attack- I can never control when they’ll happen so it makes for a fun surprise. Anyway, that’s what this picture reminds me of and it fills me with good memories.
My favorite dish from Johnny Carinos (Italian Restaurant) is their Angel Hair with Artichokes. I decided I would be better served if I just learned how to make it myself. So I did. And it was awesome.
I don’t think the picture below needs much explanation. Just cute leg-cuddlers.
This picture is evidence of our adulthood. We (voluntarily) chose to attend our HOA’s annual budget meeting. It was held at a local church. The only disappointing thing about the evening was- for anyone familiar with Idaho Falls, we thought it was at the cool swoopy-roof church that everyone says that they want to slide down, so we were interested to see the inside. Turns out we were wrong and it was at the church building next to that one. Bummer. But at least we know where our HOA fees are being spent.
Idaho winters are freezing cold, dark and dreary. We decided to spruce up our winter by watching all of the sagas we have (e.g. Star Wars, Harry Potter, Bourne series etc etc) straight through. We finished Star Wars last week.
Eh. Just another food post. This was our lunch and Doug was happy that I got the kind of lettuce his mom uses.
Date night spent with Britt and Casey. Dinner, a movie and fro yo. Yes, these were the same friends featured in my last post….I promise we do have other friends, these are just our favorites :) Well, maybe we don’t. Oh well it was a fun night.
We think our tree in the front resembles the Whomping Willow.

I love all the pics. So fun that you are doing it! Keep it up all year.
And may I put in a request that you start posting (or start another blog) your recipes. You are such an amazing cook! I wish we lived closer just so we could come over and eat ha!
I love when I see your updates! I really like all the pictures you are taking and the cat story made me laugh too. Partly because it’s a funny story and mostly because I can picture you trying so hard not to laugh.
