It all started about a month ago when I drove past a life-sized Yoshi walking down the sidewalk advertising a video game store. The marketing got to me and I asked Doug if he wanted to check out the store; of course he did, I don’t even know why I bothered asking. Well the store was pretty cool and influenced us to set up all (5) of our old video game consoles.
Playing old video games together has turned into a nightly routine. Doug let me get the game “Clue” for the Super Nintendo. It’s basically the exact same thing as the board game but you can play with one or two players. Clue has always been my favorite board game (and movie and book series as a kid). Unfortunately it’s a rare occasion when someone will actually play with me. Thanks to the Super Nintendo I can play whenever I want! Our favorite game thus far has been Super Mario Kart. We played for countless hours and just recently updated to Mario Kart 64. After some coaching from Doug, we’re both pretty awesome now and have learned the secret to strafing around corners like pros to give us an extra boost. We are now battling through Yoshi’s Island together. The only problem with our old Nintendo game obsession is it tends to bring out the nerd in both of us :) We even subjected my poor parents to Diddy Kong Racing a few weeks ago after eating dinner together. Sad news for all Duck Hunt fans: the old Nintendo zapper does not work on newer TV’s (only glass screens). Which came as quite a disappointment for us. If anyone is in a nostalgic mood, stop by because we’ll most likely be playing a video game from circa 1985.

Everyone was hoping I would change to be more like Aly after we were married, but alas… she has changed to be more like me.
As long as we’re nerding out, happy pi day today!
Aly…clue is my favorite board game too! Noone ever wants to play it with me either! Maybe for our girls night we should force everyone to play with us…just a thought.
YES!
Either of you two up for a game of “mine cart carnage” (circa mid-90’s). I used to like that one because I kind of felt like I was on a roller coaster with the monkey.
I also love Clue! I’m apparently ruthless when I play **(make confused face**).
Video games are fun. I enjoy playing them when I have time (which means about once a year). I have fun watching the kids and cheering them on as I lay in an exhausted heap on the floor…hehe. :-) Apparently I’m tired today. It was fun reading your entry!
