In the twinkling of an eye

I truly did not even know we had tulips. Apparently they don’t take a lot of care because I’m not even sure these guys have been watered. One day I go out to my backyard and *boom* beautiful tulips blooming right there! What a nice surprise.

My friend Brianna came over and got acquainted with Squeaker. She liked him.

People, we have lemons growing. I don’t know how I’ve managed to keep my lemon tree alive and now it’s even producing fruit! Hallelujah. This is a big deal for someone that constantly kills plants.

Hooray for three day weekends. We just arrived at our destination for the weekend and despite Doug’s expression we are very happy. St. George is much warmer than our neck of the woods.

We went to Vegas for the day to see our friends, Andrew and Kayse Barton and their little ones. We spent the morning shopping then headed over to the Bellagio and walked around for a bit.

We didn’t make it back to St George until about 9:20 and we hadn’t eaten dinner yet. We wanted to try a Thai restaurant that was recommended to us so I looked it up to see if it was still open- they were open until 10 so we hurried over there. We were greeted by a line and a 25 minute wait for a table…at 9:30PM. Apparently that is when the “cool” people eat dinner. We wouldn’t know since we usually go with the geriatric crowd around 5:30. The food was worth the wait but especially their mangoes and sticky rice…exceptional. I love Thai food so much, I’m borderline drooling right now just thinking of it.

The big plan for the next day was to go to Zion National Park and go on a nice hike. Well, that’s also what every other person in this hemisphere planned as well and it was pretty much the worst idea ever. Going to a national park on a holiday weekend was not smart to begin with. So we were pretty disappointed, we couldn’t even get out of the car because it was so jam packed there was no where to park or even pull off. So we saw half the park and it was gorgeous but we are still a little sad we couldn’t do more than that. Our Zion pass also included Kolob Canyons, so we decided to hie on over there and methinks it was a much better plan because there were very few people and it was still breathtaking.

For our last meal in St George we had to try SmashBurger per a recommendation and a claim that “they are the best burgers in the world.” Now that I see this picture, it’s awful. We both look like idiots. Oh well. The burgers were good but I wouldn’t put them in the same category as the recommendation.
