I just now realized I’ve failed to document the new addition to our little family. He’s not really “new” to us any more as we’ve had him for about 9 months now, but allow me to introduce you to Elvis, or better known as “The Squeaker” or just “Squeaks”. Our upstairs neighbor, Debbie, asked us last September if we’d be interested in taking her bird. She has a couple of cats and was moving across the country soon and thought it’d be best to find him a new home. Neither of us have ever had a bird but we like animals so we were happy to oblige.
He’s a beautiful peach-faced lovebird.
Debbie has had him for 13 years! Lovebirds can live to be in their 20’s so we might have him for just as long as she did. When we first got the little guy he favored me. Well, that quickly changed and now Doug is his life. He can’t get enough of Doug. They’ve become inseparable. It’s pretty funny. He’s very vocal (and not a songbird I might add). Most of his sounds sound just like childrens’ squeaky toys. Hence the nickname “Squeaks”.
Squeaky is usually perched on Dougie’s head. He’s a curious little bugger and likes to sit on my shoulder while I’m cooking and doing my hair but other than that he’s with Doug. He’s been a fun pet, surprisingly. We don’t clip his wings so he’s free to fly around if he wants but he mostly likes to just chill out. He’s a social guy and we love our colorful feathered friend.

Are you kidding me? He’s constantly pooping. You’d be surprised how much poop something that small and that cute can produce…well maybe not, you do have five kids :)
