St. Valentine

Doug and I were babysitting on actual Valentines day so we had to save our special date for the weekend. That didn’t stop Doug from having these beautiful flowers delivered to the office for me.

I got Dougie his favorite Jelly Bellys, a blank canvas and a download for the full Lord of the Rings soundtrack. It was fitting because we’ve spent the last few months watching the extended versions of all the LoTR’s (they are really long and it really did take us months). The music is so nice to listen to at work. It was a good choice on my part if  I do say so myself.

We spent the evening hosting an epic treasure hunt for the kids. Mom, if you’re reading this, Doug and I wouldn’t be opposed to an epic scavenger hunt…we were a bit jealous of the kids. I’m not embarrassed to say that.

Saturday morning we got ready for our Valentines date: Sushi Rolling Class at Blue Hashi. We figure we eat there so often we might as well learn how to roll our own sushi before we break the bank. We were so excited and it ended up being all we hoped for and more.

We each made three rolls, the last being our choice. We made our two favorites: the Sleepwalker and the Nagasaki. Doug’s was perfection. Mine…might have fallen apart slightly in the cutting stage, but still tasted excellent. We ate a lot of sushi that weekend. Lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning. Oh I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. It was fun to do something out of the ordinary and it included food so it was a good choice.

Made some Valentine cookies too.
