Lava Lava

Bought some new lily plants and planted them in my backyard…probably not the best timing. It’s a little bit hot.

I woke up with a start realizing I forgot to take a picture! It was a little before midnight and this is all I could muster.

We are limited in the number of perfect summer evenings that we have left.

We had to run some errands downtown for lunch and so we stopped in a little Mexican restaurant to grab a bite. I wasn’t very hungry so I ordered the taco salad (thought that was a smart choice), Doug ordered a tostada. Mine is the dish on the left. It was huge. Doug had to help a lot. We thought it was pretty funny when it came out.

We have officially embarked on a horrible journey. Our yard is covered in lava rock and we decided it was time to get rid of it. Easier said than done. We spent Friday night and all day Saturday loading this stuff up and it was surprisingly difficult. The sad/discouraging part is that we didn’t even finish so we have more treacherous weekends to look forward to in our near future. Lava rock= the herpes of landscaping.

If this isn’t the most depressing picture of the day I don’t know what is. We made a few visits on Saturday to this dusty hell-hole and it’s not a place I’d like to frequent. I guess we’re not so different from the Chinese after all. :) Also depressing was shoveling the lava rock out of the trailer after shoveling it in  the trailer, like adding salt to a wound.

Here’s our summer tree picture. (I have one from each season so far.) Ignore the landscaping (or lack thereof) around the tree. Yikes.
