Hālì Bōtè 7.2

The last Harry Potter came out while we were in China and so it was funny making comparisons with both experiences. You can read about that here. We bought our tickets for the midnight showing here about 6 or so weeks ago (yes, we were really excited). I remember in China having one of our friends call the theatre for us to get the showtimes the day before and they still didn’t have them. We had to wait until the morning of to find out what time it was playing, how funny considering there were people camped out here  for days ready for the movie. Americans are huge nerds and I love it.

Mandy and Brady met us for dinner then we grabbed a snocone and headed over to the theatre. On a side note, I like to think I’m a bit of a snocone connoisseur from working at Sno Shack for 3 summers in highschool (the three best summers ever! Sara- remember bringing in your old TV and watching Hook while we “worked”? Ah, good times). Anyway, after making thousands of snocones, and eating almost as much, it’s pretty hard to please me if I get a snocone anywhere besides Rexburg Sno Shacks (they seriously are the best: perfectly shaved ice, high quality syrup and Reed’s dairy cream…perfection.) I was a bit apprehensive of trying snocones  from  a new place, Tropical Sno, but Brady insisted. And…they actually pulled through. I was very pleased.

Mine is a size small…they are huge.

After snocones we headed over to Edwards Theatre, about 9:30, and the line was wrapped all the way around the back of the building. Yikes. On our way over there we saw an ambulance headed to the back of the building and this conversation followed-

Doug: “I wonder what happened, maybe one of the fans fainted from excitement.”
Brady: “I bet someone threw down an ‘Avada Kedavra’.”
Me: “Hahahahaha”

It was pretty entertaining looking at all the fans dressed up. I think we saw almost every character from Harry Potter and also a shark and Darth Vader.  I only had time to snap a few pictures, unfortunately. Which really is a shame because there were some hilarious costumes.

Brady brought his invisibility cloak and Elder Wand. Sometimes we couldn’t find him and realized he was standing next to us and just wearing his cloak.

Sorry Mandy, but this picture is awesome

Instead of waiting in line for three hours we shelled out some cash and got to go into the theatre early to watch another movie before Potter. Mandy and I got Dark Marks drawn on our arms.

Check out our sweet wands

Leaving the theatre we were all pretty tired but surprised to find a large line again waiting for the 3:00 showing…and I thought we were crazy.

We took some more pictures after the movie with our Harry Potter glasses and wands…but it was 3 AM and turns out none of us really look decent at 3 AM.

Somehow all 4 of us stayed awake through the entire movie and it was awesome. We loved it. We did not, however, like waking up for work the next day. We are too old for midnight showings I think. But oh well, Harry Potter was worth being tired for!  It was bittersweet. The end of a legacy. Harry Potter was pretty much my whole childhood so it was sad to see it all end.

I am laughing so hard at how dorky we are! But, I will say that it was an awesome night and a great movie. Long live Harry potter!

Yes, yes I do remember that! I am a sno-cone snob. I totally admit to judging and critiquing every sno-cone worker that serves me. I mean come on’ we made up half of those flavors in the window….a little respect please.
As for Harry Potter, amazing. I saw it with Chel and Riley last night and now I want to have a Harry Potter marathon and then go see it again! thoughts?

I love that idea! We’ve already been marathon-ing them at our house for awhile now, but I’m up for another one, haha. Maybe we could get some snocones before?
